Abaco Accommodations and Services
Last Update March 05, 2021.
242 is Bahamaian area code.
MARCH 2022: The latest updated list or rental homes Post Dorian is here: https://abacosun.com/resorts-and-accommodations/
MARCH 2021: As you are aware. Hurricane Dorian wreaked terrible damage to Abaco back in the fall of 2019. Then, the Wuhan Virus aka COVID-19 came along slowing down repair and recovery. Sadly so many cottages and businesses have still not recovered, even the quintessential Hope Town Harbour Lodge, is gone. ItÕs where we got married and a favorite of folks for generations. Here it is March 2021 and thought it time to update this page. Those whose websites are no longer found have been removed. At the same time we have added a couple new vendors. If I've overlooked anyone,
please let us know.

First time visitors to Abaco might wonder what is the difference between a rental home or a rental villa. There are resorts on Green Turtle Cay, Elbow Cay, Treasure Cay and elsewhere. There was an Inn on Green Turtle (not a resort) and a Lodge in Hope Town (a resort) - Confusing? Some explanation is in order. The Abaco definition of resort is a bit ambiguous but generally; Includes hotel and or resort owned property. Most include rental villas and houses (not necessarily owned by the resort). All resorts have bar(s), restaurant(s), and pool. Some are on the beach, some not, but compensate with a marina. None have a casino or disco. There is one Inn and one Lodge both are classified as are resorts. All are linked here. Areas listed are linked at the header of each column. Now we come to Rental Homes, which is self explanatory. Villas which are sometimes attached and Cottages are usually one room stand alone homes with minimum kitchen appliances: a microwave but not necessarily a stove. Many of the latter are on the water with or without a dock. Finally there are numerous Eco Tourist / Adventure rentals. These are solar - 12 volt homes, some with A/C inverters but no air conditioning. Water is by cistern. Cooking by propane stove. Definitely for the adventurous and mostly found in remote areas like Lubbers Quarters.
Also note there are many more rental properties than we can possibly accommodate here. Our selection was determined by first having their own website, first hand knowledge, establishment longevity and first hand reports. Still, there are many others, that can be found with a Google Search. REVIEWS for many listings can be found on the pages of Trip Advisor, VBRO, Frommers and Fodors.
Finally: All links were working as of last update. Although we try and stay on top of things, vendors sometimes cancel web service without notice and some places close despite a posted website. PLEASE If you find any discrepancies,
drop us a note.
